Day Nurseries

Day Nurseries provide full or part time care and education for children in a formal setting. They are primarily, but not entirely, for working parents as they are open the full working day (usually 8am-6pm) and for approximately 50 weeks a year. They can care for children from 3 months old up to 5 years.

Nurseries are registered by OFSTED and inspected at least once every three years.

If you are considering using a Day Nursery you should enquire about places as soon as possible. Waiting lists are common and baby places are at a premium. Costs involved will vary from setting to setting, but on average will cost between £40 - £50 a day (under 2 years) and £30 - £40 a day (over 2 years).
